Full Time and Part Time Officer Positions

The City of Lyndon, Kansas is seeking to fill the position of Chief of Police with the Lyndon Police Department.

Candidates must be a high school graduate or have GED Equivalent, CPOST certified by the State of Kansas, pass a background check, and must hold a valid Kansas driver's license. A graduate from a college or university with major course experience in police administration or related field preferred. 

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, designs, organizes, directs and provides overall supervision of personnel, programs and activities of the police department. 
  • Participates in preparation of the annual departmental budget. 
  • Patrols the streets of the city, places of business, and residential areas, enforcing city ordinances, state and federal laws. 
  • Investigates accidents and suspected crimes, reports findings and arrests suspected individuals or takes other action. 
  • Formulates and prescribes the work methods, policies and procedures followed by the department. 
  • Provides animal control services.

The City offers  a compensation package including paid leave, health, dental, and vision insurance, and KPERS.  Salary based on qualifications.
