Trash Services
Trash Rates:
The City of Lyndon contracts with Ottawa Sanitation (Green Environmental) to
provide trash services.
Rate is $15.00 per month and includes 1 poly cart.
Additional poly carts can be ordered through the City for an additional $6.00 per month.
Stickers are available at City Hall and are 4 stickers for $6.00. No additional bags outside the polycart will be picked up without a trash sticker.
Pick up day:
Effective December 1, 2025, trash service day is now Fridays.
- Polycarts must be placed within two feed from the curb or on the turnout of your driveway before 6:00 a.m.
- Carts should be placed with the lid opening facing the street and handle facing the house.
- Carts should not be placed within 5 feet of mailboxes, fences, parked cars, or other objects.
- If you have more than one polycart, please place them at least 3 feet apart.
- Please do not overfill the polycart so that the lid will close properly.
- A second polycart can be ordered if needed. Bagging your trash before you put it in your cart will help prevent blowing trash when it is dumped. ALL garbage must be placed in a company provided container.
- All container/carts shall be placed at the curb for service, unless otherwise requested by the city to accommodate the elderly or disabled residents. Residents needing this assistance can contact city hall.
Bulk Items change effective March 3, 2026:
Bulk items (see below) will only be picked up once per month on the first Tuesday. Residents may put up to 2 yards of waste out on bulk pick up day. The two yards does include a combination of any of the below (except appliances). ***Bulk items must be at the curb by 6:00 a.m. or the night before to be picked up. Appliances:
Contractor may charge up to $20.00 per appliance to any customer who leaves any major appliance for pick up by the contractor. Appliances containing freon must be tagged by a licensed contract as "Freon Free" with a freon free evacuation certificate.
Furniture and Construction:
Construction and Demolition debris may be an additional charge to the resident upon the discretion of Ottawa Sanition. These items will be dealt with on a case by case basis with the determining factor being volume of the items, weight, and ability to put safely into the truck/trailer.
Yard Waste:
No additional charge for small quantities of lawn waste provided that clippings and trimmings bagged in quality bags weighing less than 30 pounds, and limbsd are less than 4 feet, tied and bundled together weight less than 30 pounds. Excessive amount (more than 10 bags) will be charged the same as appliances.
Items not accepted for pick up - Tires, Batteries, Oil, Paint, Hazardous materials, dirt, cement, and hot coals.

Requests must be submitted on or before the First Monday of each month by 3:00 P.M. or items may have to wait until the following month. The request is not required, but is encouraged so that your items are not missed.
